Housefull 5 has been performing well as compared to Thug Life. The films have been pitted against each other in the Box Office battle. Here’s who is winning it.
Housefull 5 is the fifth installment in the Housefull franchise which stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir in interesting roles. Housefull 5 earned Rs 87.5 crore net in India and became the highest opener in the Housefull franchise race.
On Monday, the film added more Rs 13 crore to its earnings and on Tuesday it collected Rs 10.75 crore. As per early estimates from the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk, the domestic net total is up to Rs 111.25 crore. The film has grossed Rs 160.50 crore in its first four days globally and is now racing toward the Rs 200 crore mark. The film is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced under the banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam‘s reunion after 38 years after Nayakan in 1987, Thug Life was one of the most awaited films of 2025. The film was released on June 5 and has disappointed many as it did not meet viewers’ expectations. The film has been criticized by the audiences and critics for its poor screenplay.
Kamal Haasan-starrer collected Rs 36.90 crore net in India in its four-day opening weekend. The film earned Rs 2.30 crore on Monday and as per early estimates from the entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk, the film earned just Rs 1.75 crore. As per reports, Thug Life has earned Rs 40.95 crore in its first six days of release.
The film was made on a budget of Rs 200 crore and is turning out to be the biggest flops of the year. Thug Life faced a major controversy after Kamal Haasan claimed that “Kannada is born out of Tamil”. His statement spread like wildfire and the Karnataka HC suggested that the actor-politician issue an apology. But, he refused to do so. The Mani Ratnam directorial also features Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Nasser, Joju George, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ali Fazal, and Rohit Saraf in pivotal roles.
