“Practical Magic” star Aidan Quinn said he wasn’t asked to be part of the sequel.

Quinn, 67, played detective Gary Hallet in the 1998 film, who was the love interest of Sandra Bullock’s character, Sally Owens.

Both Bullock and Nicole Kidman — who played Gillian Owens — returned for “Practical Magic 2,” and are seen in the trailer that dropped Monday. But Quinn was noticeably absent, despite Gary and Sally ending up together in the original film.

In an interview with SPIN 1038 from February, Quinn said he wasn’t asked to be in “Practical Magic 2,” but said that if he was, he would have been game to reprise his role.

“Of course I would,” he said.

Quinn said he had “lovely” memories of working with Bullock and Kidman.

“They were both great to work with,” he shared. “You know, most of my stuff was with Sandy but they were both phenomenal to work with.”

“We had a good time,” he added.

“Practical Magic 2” revisits the Owens family, a multi-generational family of witches. Judging from the trailer, Sally and Gillian appear to be single.

“Everyone we loves dies,” Sally says.

Gillian adds, “A really horrible death. But it’s just not great for the Tinder bio.”

Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest are also returning for the sequel, and newcomers include Lee Pace and Joey King.

It’s set to hit theaters on Sept. 11.

Bullock made her Instagram debut last week to promote the film, with her celeb friends overjoyed at her arrival on the app.

Reese Witherspoon commented, “IG just got a lot better 😘,” while Jennifer Aniston wrote, “She’s here! ❤️😘.”

Bullock, 61, also made her red carpet return last week after a four-year hiatus from the spotlight at CinemaCon 2026. She joined Kidman to promote “Practical Magic 2,” wowing in a bright red pantsuit.
