There was a time when celebrities would give an honest review on other actors’ and directors’ movies. Not everyone would always praise something, like it happens today. If someone didn’t like something, they would honestly voice it on a public platform. One such celebrity is Aamir Khan. In the past, Aamir had criticised one of Amitabh Bachchan’s widely acclaimed movies and called it ‘insensitive.’. So which movie was it? Keep reading further.
The movie Aamir Khan thought was insensitive and extremely manipulative also starred Rani Mukerji along with Amitabh Bachchan. It is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. The audience and critics were in awe of the movie for its moving story and impactful performances. However, Aamir wasn’t a fan of anything. On his blog back then, he once wrote, “Without any hesitation, I strongly condemn this kind of cinema no matter who is involved with the film, and that includes me if I ever have in the past, present, or future made such an error of judgement.”
Further, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the superstar believes the Amitabh starrer ‘glorified’ ill-treatment and he found it quite disturbing. The Lagaan actor stated, “I couldn’t make out if they were living in a house or a museum or a library or a church. The performances were over the top. An alcoholic person comes and says you have to leave her alone with me for forty days, and he slaps her around. I don’t know of any parent who’d agree to that.”
Amitabh Bachchan was quite disappointed by Aamir Khan’s remarks. Big B had won his second National Film Award in the Best Actor category for the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed movie. At that time, Amitabh revealed that he didn’t even charge a single penny for Black. In the same movie, Ranbir Kapoor had worked as one of Bhansali’s assistants.
