It’s a double dose of Diana.
The late Princess of Wales’ nieces Ladies Eliza and Amelia Spencer hit the British Fashion Awards 2024 red carpet last night in matching black dresses and piles of diamonds that brought back memories of their aunt’s most iconic look.
Eliza, 32, chose an off-the-shoulder design by Gaurav Gupta with intricate draping details around the neckline, while identical twin Amelia went with a plunging Pamella Roland number with subtle sparkle around the neckline.
Both wore diamond choker necklaces, rings and bracelets by Sartoro Genève as well as heels by Jennifer Chamandi, pulling their blond hair back into sleek buns to showcase the jewels.
Of course, royal fans will instantly compare the twinning moment to Princess Diana’s unforgettable revenge dress.
The princess stepped out a leggy, off-the-shoulder LBD by Christina Stambolian paired with a pearl choker in 1994, on the very same night King Charles III admitted to having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Notably, Diana doubled down on her scorned woman aesthetic with bright red nail polish as another way to buck the system under which she had been living.
Amelia in particular has a history of nodding to her family history — including on her wedding day, when she tapped Atelier Versace to make her custom long-sleeved gown.
“I think [my aunt] would be very proud to see me on my wedding day,” she said at the time of her 2023 nuptials. “I know the Versace family also absolutely love Diana, so there’s a very special connection that we have,” she added.
The Spencer duo were styled by Siân Gabari — as was older sister Lady Kitty Spencer, who attended the same event in a gold A-line ballgown by Pamella Rolland.
While Diana’s daring look was clearly meant to send a message, her nieces were actually among the more conservatively dressed A-listers on Monday night’s carpet.
Rihanna turned heads in a vintage blue fur look by Christian Lacroix, while Rita Ora totally transformed for the night with her bleached pixie cut and brows and oversized Primark pantsuit.
